Equipment:

24 backbore)
- Yamaha C Trumpet
- (same mouthpiece)
- Yamaha Eb Trumpet
- Bach 1 1/4 C mouthpiece (standard
throat backbore)
- Yamaha Piccolo Trumpet
- Laskey 65p mouthpiece
- Yamaha Flugelhorn
- Bach 3C mouthpiece
Fundamentals:
- Slow trilling (to move air)
- Legato Scales (to move air)
- Single Tonguing speed (sixteenth notes
mm=96-120)
Fundamental Suggestions:
- Make the attack "pop". (get
the notes to speak clearly right from the beginning)
- Keep the airflow steady. (especially
when tonguing or moving across technical passages)
- Use single tongue unless absolutely
necessary. (this increases your chances for accuracy and
cleanliness)
- Strive for a balanced
embouchure.(where the workload is evenly distributed)
- When performing, "hear" the
music. (leave the technical concerns in the practice
room)
- Slurs are an extension of trills.
(work up to the larget intervals by step)
- Inhale after the embouchure setting is
established.
- G (in the staff) is the center of the
horn, equalize pressure to match this point.
- Hear the pitch before playing any
note.
- Take a lesson from a non-brass player.
(for musical concerns)
- Match single and double tongue. (work
on the cross-over point-alternate groups of each at a
constant tempo)
- Improve by increasing metronome
markings. (keep a log)
- Use the word "simple" to set
the embouchure. (freeze on the "m" and you have
it)
